 In Alaska, Covenant Productions worked under a grant from the U.S. Department
of Education to produce a videotape on the dangers of drug abuse. Shot with the assistance
of the Yupik Eskimo people and distributed to all Eskimo high schools throughout the state
the "My Choice" video demonstrated through dramatic vignettes, the dangers of
excessive drinking, gasoline sniffing, and other drugs.
With most of the program shot outdoors, we learned firsthand the challenges of
videotaping in low temperatures. Batteries held less charge, zoom lens failed, camera
operators froze--but the program was completed and hopefully, will make a difference.
